I love my fjr.I love riding my fjr, however I'm not able to where I live in South Between the soft ground and crooked politicians we have to have the worst roads in America! I've ridden on better roads in 3rd world countries.literally.I don't even take it out anymore unless it's to creep to a freeway and get out of the state and depending on which freeway it might get destroyed before you make it out of state.the roads around are brutal on street bikes!three words,pot holes,buckles.nothing enjoyable about hitting a 4x4 post laying across the road every 100 feet or so which is what the buckled up roads are like or having your front wheel fall off in a 5 gallon bucket out of the clear blue at 60 mph which iswhat the pot holes are like.ALL roads around here have one or the other,some have both.ive been through 3 front wheels on my klr in two years because they were bent beyond repair.the t7 so far has been the only bike to withstand the abuse so far.when I take the fjr out I spend more time screaming and cursing when my teeth get jarred out of my head every two minutes than it's worth.Iwould highly advise anyone riding anything besides a durable dual sport or something to go around Louisiana all together if you care about your bike and are trying to enjoy the ride.they dont deserve one red cent from motorcycle tourism if they cant do any better than this!!

Amazing and very helpful. You just made me and my friend fly over from Dubai to Chicago and ride a couple of touring Harleys to Sturgis to do these rides! Well done! We are doing it mid July!

Hwy 145 from Cortez to Telluride then Hwy 62 to Ridgeway. From there you're back to 550 (the million $ hwy) I burnt up a set of rear brake pads and wore out a rear tire on that route.

I would say, a motorcycle is a great addition to a therapist. They give you ideas to think through and the bike gives you the space and time to actually do so.

Everyone knows Hwy 29 "The Dragon's Tail, but as a local, I know getting there is just as fun. From the intersection of Hwy 28 and Hwy 11 in West Union, SC up to the Dragons Tail (along Hwy 28) is motorcycle gold the whole way. And if you want a different route back, take a tour through Tellico Plains, The Cherohala Skyway through Robbinsville down to Wayah Rd and on down 76 to War Woman Road back onto 28 south to West Union. Back in the early 2000's me and a group of Honda Magna owners would do this twice a year all in a single day. The area has grown up a bit since then, so now it might take 2 days to accomplish, but certainly well worth the ride. Us locals call this loop the Dragon's Breath since it incorporates the Dragon's Tail as well as all the area twisties. Also nearby is the Blue Ridge Parkway and there are so many routes to create in this are where SC, NC, TN, & GA meet

Rt 302 and 153 are my two favorites, on 153 I hit the 15 MPH corner at 45 lol, 113 is one of the best in Maine, and being a Mainer, I rode several others that are a bit better

Honestly, I did 15 hours, overnight, only stopping for gas on a 1200XL sportster. From Mississippi to New York, left at 9PM, arrived at 12PM(noon) next day. The key for me was multiple seating positions, wearing compression base layer/dressing in layers, earplugs in full face helmet to help wind noise/fatigue, staying hydrated with cup holders.

Bear Notch absolutely belongs on this list, Kanc shouldn't be ranked #1, it's pretty, but not anywhere near as much fun as bear Notch. Hurricane MTN road also belongs on this list. Doubtful this was put together by locals...

Nice short scenic ride is from New Boston NH to Goffstown NH on Rte 13. Runs along the river, good pavement, minimal traffic.

Rt 113 is open, road it last week. Road's in great condition, watch for wildlife.

Great tips I’ll be adding the paper maps to my up coming trip. I also would add the usb port adapter if your bikes equipped with a trickle charger it’s a handy way to charge devices in remote areas or while camping

Going up 101 from Oly through Shelton north to Port Townsend to Gig Harbor and then back to Tacoma. WA has alot of great roads.

What's the point of driving a motorcycle at 100 kilometers per hour? We don't have limits in Europe.

The ride after a hard day work unload your mind to ease and remind you freedom is always there. For a tougher days of life, ill just ride in mud, skid, drift, in rain, at the beach, full speed/calm ride on the country side, just go wild. Maintained my soul all these years.

The best way to enjoy our roads out here is, slow down and enjoy your ride. Ride to enjoy the ride, it is not a racetrack.I been riding bikes on these roads in North Carolina since I was a kid on a bicycle. Then hauling shine on the back roads. Lot a people come here and see how dangerous they really are. Some don't make it.

For those who like dirt roads....Try Jefferson notch road...One of the highest roads in NH...and a REAL mountain adventure..

I live in the southern part of Arizona, so it’s hot 🥵! I bring a camelbak 3liter a reusable bottle and sugar free liquid IV. Staying properly hydrated with electrolytes is critical here with temps 105+ from June until fall.

Great Video. A useful app I use is "Here we go". It is a map program with downloadable maps. You can download maps from whatever state you are going to be in. This allows me to use the program offline when signals are not available.

Looks like you got it all, and I need to get a good tire repair kit.

My two biggest learnings from longer and shorter trips: Under pack your available bags by about 20%. When you are trying to repack in a hurry (and doing it for the first few times enroute) things rarely fit back in the way they did when packing it at home. Keep all the things you need for the day while riding in tankbag for small hydration backpack. I do both but I absolutely will not wear the backpack while riding...but the second I want to go for short hike, off bike tour, etc. it is one thing to grab. This has my sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, wipes, a snack, small backup battery and phone cord and, of course, water. Bonus item...cheap combination cable lock big enough to loop through your gear and helmet. If you want to take that 3 mile hike up to the Gilas Cliff Dwellings and it 80f...you are likely shedding the gear but not afraid of rain. Slip the cable through the sleeve, pant leg and visor hole then latch it to you bike. Won't deter anyone but the opportunity thieves but how many hardcore thieves are trolling remote National Park parking lots for used motorcycle gear?
